Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha, Former Minority Whip of Abia State
As Nigeria gears up for the 2027 general elections, Hon. Dr. Mike Ukoha, former Minority Whip of the Abia State House of Assembly and currently the Special Assistant to the Deputy Speaker on State Legislative Affairs, has called on all sons and daughters of Abia State in particular and the South East in general, to seize the upcoming Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as a golden opportunity to secure their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs).
In a statement issued in Umuahia, Hon. Ukoha urged young people turning 18 before August 18th, 2025, as well as those wishing to transfer or replace their voter’s cards, to actively participate in the exercise.
According to INEC’s schedule, online voter registration begins on Monday, 18th August 2025, while physical registration will commence on Monday, 25th August 2025 at designated INEC centres nationwide.
“This is your chance to register, transfer, or replace your PVC. As proud sons and daughters of Abia and the South East, we must come home and ensure our votes count for the unity and progress of our dear state and region,” Ukoha declared.
He stressed that the PVC is the power of the people, noting that without it, citizens would have no voice in deciding their leaders or influencing governance.
“No PVC, no voting, and no voice! The time to act is now. Let us come together to move Abia State, the South East, and indeed Nigeria forward,” he said.
Hon. Ukoha appealed especially to youths, women, and diaspora communities to take the message seriously and ensure massive participation, describing the 2027 elections as a defining moment for the Southeast and the nation at large.
He concluded with a rallying call: “Come home, get your PVC, and let us build a greater Abia, a stronger South East, and a united Nigeria.”
