Enugu, Nigeria — A chieftain of the South East for Good Governance (SEGG), Mazi Ray Temple Ubani, has issued a passionate call to leaders of Southeastern origin, both at home and in the diaspora, to urgently mobilize their people for a massive Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) registration drive ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking on Thursday, Mazi Ubani emphasized that the PVC remains the most potent weapon for the Southeast to correct political and socio-economic wrongs from “top to bottom.” He noted that without active participation in the electoral process, the region’s aspirations for justice, equity, and good governance will remain elusive.
According to him, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled online voter registration to commence on Monday, 18th August 2025, while physical registration will begin on Monday, 25th August 2025.
“This is the time for action. Every leader in the Southeast and the diaspora must call home and ensure our people register in their numbers. Our communities, markets, churches, streets, and schools must be sensitized. We must speak with one voice and prepare for 2027 as a turning point in our political history,” Ubani stated.
He urged traditional rulers, community associations, youth groups, religious leaders, and socio-cultural organizations to take ownership of the mobilization process, warning that failure to register now would mean surrendering the region’s political destiny to others.
Mazi Ubani concluded by stressing that the PVC is the Southeast’s weapon for change, and called for unity and determination in the buildup to 2027.
